About Me:
Speaker, Author, Consultant, Trainer, Lover of Learning, Collector of Friends! Former junior high teacher, middle school principal, university professor. I love digital photography, woodworking, and ham radio (especially Morse Code). [dah-di-dah-dit dah-dah-di-dah]

It was my pleasure to have served a term on the ISTE Board just a few years ago. During that time, I became a staunch fan of the ISTE staff in Eugene, because I was able to witness how hard they work and how selfless they are.

I have attended every NECC since 1993 (Orlando). Each one contributes more friends into my treasure chest of dear friends. I am confident that the San Antonio gathering will be the same.

Favorite quotes:
• "You can have everything in life you want, if you'll just help enough OTHER people get what THEY want!" -- Zig Ziglar

• "The bitterness of poor quality lingers LONNNNNNG after the sweetness of low price is forgotten!" -- My dad (I guess that's why I use a Mac!)

• "The main difference between a big shot and a little shot is that the big shot was a little shot who just kept on shooting!" --Mary Kay Ash

• "A wise person is marked by the ability to generate incisive questions, not by the ability to contrive answers." --Dr. John F. Perry, Jr.

• and, a "wordless" quote that my mother gave me many times -- a simple, encouraging smile! Although she's gone now, I still harvest the bounty from those seeds she planted and planted and planted.

We're just hoping to get all this budget mess straight so our little public schools down here can actually have teachers in classrooms with the stuff we need to teach kids come August. :)

Oh - and Wiggy has the CHICKEN POX. So..if it had worked out for me to come, how terrible would that have been .. the mommy guilt, I mean, with him having chicken pox and not having his mommy here to take care of him. He's very disturbed by it all..and with his little speech issue, he keeps calling them chicken socks?

Have fun for me!

We think you ought to be in pictures!

Hello I’m Michael Roberts on staff at the International Society for Technology in Education. We are in the process of identifying ISTE members who’ll be at the National Education Computing Conference (NECC) , and would be available to have their picture take for marketing collateral, such as membership ads, promotions of webinars, the annual report—and many other print and web pieces.

We wanted to check to see if you are attending NECC, and if you’d be interested in being photographed. We’ll have a professional photographer set up to capture images Sunday June 28th through Tuesday July 1st.

Members who have posed for marketing collateral say it is great to have the recognition from their peers when ISTE materials arrive at school. If you’d like to see an example of how we use the photos, please visit the front page on iste.org—there you’ll see a web ad for NECC featuring three attendees from last year.

It should not take more than 10 minutes to shoot your portrait professionally. We hope you’ll consider participating. As a thank you, we’ll give a $5 Starbucks—plus you’ll have the chance to a face for ISTE in the coming year.

If you are willing to participate, please reply to this message (photo@iste.org.) Once we know you’re amendable, we’ll send out a selection of available slots for shooting, so you can pick a time that works best with your schedule.

The two requirements to be photographed are that you are a current ISTE member and you’re going to be onsite at NECC 2009.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Michael

Larry, thank you so much for letting me know about Grey Ferris. I agree, he was a true leader and friend to us all, and to education in Mississippi. My best to you and your family and yes, see you at NECC. My email is helenasoule@gmail.com

Larry - you make me laugh! I am proud to part of your crowd of good spirits as well. Hey, keep Tuesday happy hour open if possible at NECC 5:00-6:30. PS it was the swishing swatting tails of those durn cows hitting me every which way that left me dreading every milking chores. oh I know you could cobble their hocks and tie in their tails but even that had dangers:)

Hi Larry - we had freezing temperatures in North Dakota just last week - looking forward to some warmth in Texas. Spent three weeks living with a Russian teacher and visiting schools in March - what an experience!
