Idea to have a session at EBC on Saturday to kick things off a bit. Share your ideas in a discussion.

Location
Would be great to have a common area to meet and setup, collaborate and learn the XO. No signage needed, those "little green guys" speak for themselves.

We have five XOs with us for the poster session and Birds of a Feather, so anybody who wants to share in the fun but failed to bring their own little greenie can still take part!

A couple of ideas...
1) it would be very helpful for anyone connecting to the jabber server to rename their XO - perhaps just adding NECC at the end of your XO name. It'll make it much easier to find each other in the neighborhood. In terminal, type

sugar-control-panel -s nick "George B - NECC"

... or whatever, and control-alt-erase...

2) Which jabber server? First, here's where they are all listed: http://wiki.laptop.org/go/Community_Jabber_Servers

I've had really good luck with school.letschange.org (plus I love the name). Not many on it, and very reliable. After I get home from school today, I'll set mine at home to go there. And I'll try and get in touch with the person running it. Try it out. In terminal, that would be:

sugar-control-panel -s jabber school.letschange.org

Other thoughts?

I agree. A smaller server would allow us to really connect with the people behind the "little green monsters". :) Mark please share as soon as you can.

I'll have mine there. I'm leaning toward's Mark's point about using a smaller Jabber server - more opportunities for connection. I'm also curious to hear his "more soon." I suspect it's good.

Brian, this is great. I'll be in Seattle with 3 XO's, hoping to connect with xo's in TX. I have a couple of ideas for jabber servers. For now I say NOT a big one, llike xochat.org. - more soon.
