NECC Conclusion

This was my first time attending the NEC Conference and I had a blast! I connected with some amazing people and look forward to collaborating with them in the future! My Student Showcase was a hit, and I was thrilled that Vikki Myers, Senior Multimedia Producer for Professional Growth at Pearson, interviewed my student and me in regards to the impact of technology in the classroom. I look forward to getting that video clip to showcase on here and at my school. What an awesome experience!!! Delet… Continue

NECC 2008 - Personal Thursday Summary

San Antonio Airport, Thursday, 11:20 a.m. Free WiFi Internet Access at the airport! Fully functional. Now that is how it should be done. In the modern world, air, water and wifi should be free. I am really liking this town. In a discussion last night we came to the conclusion that the Riverwalk does have an artificiality that some will find disturbing, but it is still delightfully done. I took multiple strolls which started right at the door to my hotel. I never found time for a boat trip or to… Continue

NECC 2008 - Personal Wednesday Summary

Offline blogging to post later. Wednesday, July 2, 11:20 pm (with edits Thursday morning in the airport) Long post, with the unbelievable part at the end. Started the day, as each day here in San Antonio, with coffee and croissant from the Starbucks in the lobby. Rather nice, really. First presentation, Second Life with Distance Learners: Virtual Office Hours. The presenter, Abbie Brown of East Carolina University, described his experiences in Second Life, asking if ours were similar. In my… Continue

Math Session

Just saw an awesome math session. Scott Loomis gave some wonderful real world applications for integrating technology into middle school math classes. I cannot say enough about this session! I learned so much! I am going to stop in and purchase his book before I leave. He and his wife have books for 3rd grade, 4th grade, 5th grade, and 6-8th grade.
